Ohuruogu granted Olympic hearing

Ohuruogu bounced back from her ban with a world title in Japan

World 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu will have a personal hearing next month as she tries to overturn a ban from representing Britain at the Olympics.

Ohuruogu, 23, completed a year's ban in August for missing three drug tests and won the world title in Osaka.

But she is suspended for life from competing at the Games under a British Olympic Association by-law.

No date has been set but the hearing in front of the BOA's independent appeals panel will be in mid-late November.

Ohuruogu put in her appeal before leaving for the World Championships in Japan, where she clocked 49.61 seconds in the 400m final - the third fastest time ever by a British woman.

Despite serving her time under track and field rules, a BOA by-law prevents athletes who have committed a doping offence from representing the team at the Olympics.
