Yanga have suspended three players for a period raging from three to six months, it was announced yesterday.
The club`s Secretary General, Lucas Kisasa, said yesterday that goalie Ivo Mapunda and defender Shadrack Nsajingwa were each suspended for six months, while Edwin Mukenya was handed a three- month suspension.
He said Mapunda and Nsajigwa would not be entitled to any allowances or salaries when serving the ban.
Kisasa said Mukenya would not be given allowances but will be given half salary.
Nsajigwa and Mapunda disappeared without permission from the team`s residential camp in Morogoro on October 25 when the team was preparing for their Vodacom Premier League match against JKT Ruvu.
Kisasa said Mukenya escaped from the camp three days before the team met their arch-rivals Simba in the league match played October 24.
Yanga were beaten 1-0 in the match played at the Jamhuri Stadium, Morogoro.
He said that Yanga executive committee gave a stern warning to Ben Mwalala who also left without permission with the trio.
He said the committee did not suspend Mwalala because he was still serving a six-month ban imposed to him by the Tanzania Football Federation.
Yanga have instead ordered Mwalala to report at the training camp immediately.
He said Amir Maftah, who also left with the players, was not banned because he did not turn up for interrogation conducted by the Yanga executive committee.
Meanwhile, Yanga today play away Prisons in a Premier League match at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya while their rivals Simba meet Police Moro at Morogoro`s Jamhuri Stadium.
Other matches set for today are JKT Ruvu vs Pan Africans in Arusha, Coastal Union vs Manyema in Tanga and Police Dodoma vs Mtibwa Sugar in Dodoma.
