Sokoine Marathon attracts 100

Top runners Herton Wazingwa, Christopher Ngao and Enock Machibya are among 100 athletes who have registered to compete in the Sokoine Marathon set for Saturday here.

The co-ordinator of the race, who is also the regional athletics chairman, Herman Ndissa, said the race would start from Jamhuri Stadium via Korogwe Road and later end at the starting point.

He said the race, which would be used to commemorate the death of former prime minister, the late Edward Sokoine, will be open for every runner and the registration would be free.

He said the winners in both categories would be awarded various prizes. Semhando Khatib is men`s defending champion.
