Miss World Pageant contestant Richa Maria Adhia of Tanzania poses for photos at Yalong Bay in Sanya, Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007. The Miss World final will be held in the southern resort city of Sanya on Dec. 1.
So Tanzania most beautiful lady for the year 2007, Richa Adhia, who represented this nation of more than 30 million people, was not lucky enough to win any laurels for her fellow countrymen in Sanya, China, during the recently-ended beauty pageant in that big Far-East, Asian country.
Of course, some plenty of souls, including Richa`s, may have experienced a bit, or a lot of bleeding, for umpteenth time, as Tanzania has not won the highest honours of the world contest.
The problem, or the best thing, is that everyone wants to be the winner in whatever contest. Indeed, everybody wants to be at the top of the jovial explosions and be branded the conqueror or the winner - it doesnt matter.
For a bit of solace, since Tanzania joined in full throttle the bandwagon of world beauty pageants more than 12 years ago, the only time when millions of the people inhabiting this part of world managed to break into silent smiles was when Nancy Sumari won the Miss World Africa Zone last year.
The encouraging incident served to immensely attract the attention of the contest`s fans and stakeholders to the fact that anything was possible under the blue skies of the world.
Of course, with the gloomy news emanating from Sanya, in respect of Richa, the event should serve to instill into the concerned local parties the essence of pooling more zeal into the entire process involved in the Miss World contests.
With the natural aspirations and the constant optimism to perform better and best in such competitions each year, we have to reckon with the fact that he who keeps on trying and trying, has all to gain and nothing to loose.
Moreover, we have also to keep in mind and accept the fact the entire process towards winning the highest laurel in the said contest, which involves more than 100 most beautiful ladies on the ``globe`` for each passing year, is a tough undertaking calling for all resources obtaining in diligence and perseverance.
On a wider front at home, we have also to appreciate the positive results emanating from the pageant in which the participating beauties at world and national levels have been made more conscious of their social responsibilities on society.
The contests have managed to a bigger degree to provide various, numerous employment opportunities to the participants, both at home and abroad.
The cause-root for such good results is the only fact that the contests had cultivated good ground for exposing them to the local and foreign limelight.
At the same time, while re-sharpening and training our guns for the next contests, we have to realize that many countries have also kept dreaming in vain about winning the contests which started more than 60 years ago.
Hence, in taking all the necessary preparations on this score, we have to reckon with the other nations who have been equally feeling bitter in missing the Miss World top laurels since it came into being.
With such competitions done in a more scientifically developed atmosphere, the going will always be apparently tough - a good, recent example revolving on China, which has won the contest for the first time, despite having the largest population on the Earth!
What is most important is that Tanzanian beauties, who have always been lucky to rub shoulders with other world beauties, could be the best teachers for their fellow Tanzanian counterparts who could not make it to Sanya and elsewhere.
At least they have an extensive stock of the skills and mechanics needed on the international beauty fora, and that is why local organizers have always used former Tanzanian beauty queens in providing the necessary training to aspiring participants in the competitions.
It is automatic that most our souls are bleeding for missing the world beauty championship for yet another, but our participation in the pageant should instill into us the sense of more determination towards clinching the Miss World title next year in 2008 if not in 2009!
By and large, those of us who made avid follow-up of the contest have this to say: Well done Richa, share your experience with other Tanzanian beauties!
