Basketballer Mary Meshack of Shinyanga has won Tanzania Sports Writers` Association (Taswa) October award.
Mary won by 126 points to beat her rivals who were also competing for the award.
She scored many points which made her team finish second in the just ended Taifa Cup.
Dar es Salaam`s Mohamed Ally `Dibo`, who was the best men`s player in the championship, emerged second with 123 points.
Long distance runner Dickson Marwa was voted third with 108 points.
