Kalou in Ivory Coast Olympic team

Salomon Kalou will play against Zambia on Saturday

Ivory Coast have drafted Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou into their under-23 team as they seek to secure a berth at next year's Olympics Games.

Kalou was due to play for the Ivory Coast senior side in a friendly against Angola on Saturday.

But he will instead turn out for the Olympic team in Sunday's penultimate qualifier against Zambia in Abidjan.

A home win for the Ivorians will earn them one of Africa's three places at the Games.

Meanwhile, Kalou's Chelsea team-mate Jon Mikel Obi will not be available for Nigeria when they play Ghana in their final Olympic qualifier on Friday.

The midfielder and Marseille defender Taye Taiwo have opted out of the Dream Team's game in Accra to play for the Super Eagles instead.

The Nigerian national team will play Australia in London a day after the country's under-23 side face the Black Meteors.

A home win for the Ghanaians will earn them one of Africa's three places at the Games.
