Glasgow saw off the challenge of Nigerian capital Abuja
Two-times Commonwealth Games gold medallist Liz McColgan says Glasgow hosting the 2014 Games will inspire a new generation of athletes.
Commonwealth nations voted to give Glasgow the Games over Nigerian capital Abuja by 47 votes to 24, following a ceremony in Sri Lanka on Friday.
And McColgan said young Scots would be able to realise their sporting dreams.
"If you are a 15 or 16-year-old athlete, what a motivation. You've got dreams of winning gold," she said.
