TIGO will use 120m/- to sponsor this year`s Bongo Star Search (BSS) singing competition.
The firm�s marketing manager, Kelvin Twisa, said yesterday that they had decided to sponsor the most popular singing contest in the country after realising that the last event changed the life of many teenagers.
`We are very proud to sponsor BSS because it helps youths,` he said.
Twisa hailed Benchmark Productions for their creativity.
On the other side, Benchmark Productions Managing Director, Rita Paulsen, thanked Tigo for their support and appealed to other firms to follow their footsteps.
`This time we have many aspirants than last year. The running of this year`s event will be much expensive, this is why we still appeal for other companies to join us so that we can help talented Tanzanians,` Paulsen said.
Other sponsors are Coca-Cola, LG, Tacaids and Giraffe Ocean View Hotel.
Paulsen said 40 contestants were currently in a residential training camp at the Giraffe Ocean View Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
They are Margaret John, Patali Wilson, Rogers Lucas, Maangaza Nyange, Enoch Ruta, Manfred Mwasote, Misoji Nkwabi, Stephen Wills, Elly Nema, Boniswa Domoy, Baby Madaha, Mary Banyukwa, Kelvin Mbati, Charlene Pownall and Venessa John.
There are also Rahim Mohamed, Cathrine Webesta, Furaha Charles, Ombeni Moses, Shafi Hamis, Rose Joseph, Ramadhani Msuya, Gasper Chikawe, Nassoro Saidi and George Joseph.
Renny Gondoza, Godliver Laurent, Kiyungi Ally, Kwilasa Nzungu a.k.a `Faster`, Yohana Simon, Ramadhani Suleyman, Benedict Shelukindo, Nassoro Mgonja, Joseph Adrian and Angeris Faber are also in the race.
Others are Mwasiti Ally, Michael Dotto, Yusuf Robat, Godwin Byato and Feisal Ismail ITV will start airing BSS from October 21.
