The Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) has got one year sports gear sponsorship worth 50m/- from Barrick Tanzania.
The tournament, which used to be called Taifa Cup, will now be known as Barrick Gold Cup.
The Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) President, Richard Kasesela, said yesterday that the sponsorship would not be in terms of hard money.
He said the gold mining firm would use the money to buy sports gear, wristbands, medals and trophies, to mention but a few.
`We are very happy for the support. We hope it will help us a lot,` Kasesela added.
He said the championships would run from October 21-28 at the Indoor Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Kasesela said 14 regions had so far confirmed to compete in the championships which had been postponed for more than four times.
Winners will be awarded trophies and other prizes. Dar es Salaam teams are defending champions.
