Snoop Dogg will be supervised by a park ranger, authorities said

Rapper Snoop Dogg must collect litter, rake leaves and paint benches as part of community service for carrying an illegal baton in an airport last year.
The star has chosen an unnamed park in Orange County, California, to perform 160 hours of community service after pleading guilty to the offence.

The rapper was arrested last September at Orange County's John Wayne Airport.

His lawyer said Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus Jr, was "glad to make a contribution to Orange County".

The 36-year-old star said the baton was a prop for a video he was filming in New York.

Probation

As well as the community service, his sentence included three years' probation, $1,000 (£493) in fines and court costs and a $10,000 (£4,935) donation to a county charity.

The felony conviction will be reduced to a misdemeanour after one year if Snoop Dogg does not break the law during that time.

It is not known when he will begin his community service.

In a separate sentence for unrelated gun and drugs offences last month, the performer was handed down a further 800 hours of community service.
