Revamped ATC makes inaugural flight to Mwanza

The national flag carrier, Air Tanzania Company Limited on Monday made an inaugural flight on the Dar es Salaam to Mwanza via Kilimanjaro route as one way to cerebrate the rebirth of its brand identity that represents the country`s character and aspirations.

Before boarding the plane, passengers were welcomed by ATCL staff who distributed leaflets carrying a message from managing director and chief executive officer David Mattaka.

`Welcome on board on this great day for Air Tanzania when we launch our new identity. It gives us pride that you are flying today...,` Mattaka?s message read in part.

The flight, with 70 passengers on board, took off at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam at around 06: 30 to Mwanza and on the way ATCL staff and management, led by director of marketing Heho Mbiru, carried continuous announcements addressing the specialty of the day when ATCL launched the new logo.

The new logo aspires to have a patriotic and homely feel in Tanzania and at the same time project a professional image to those from outside the country who see it.

Interviewed passengers on board said they were optimistic about ATCL`s future, saying the company, which is fully operated by local Tanzanians, had started show the way in the airline industry.

Speaking to The Guardian at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Airport, the airline?s public relations manager, Godfrey Muganyizi, said the exercise was aimed at informing the public on the newly-launched ATCL identity and log.

`The aircraft rebranding will reinstate Tanzania`s national icon ? the giraffe ? to its former position on the aircraft?s tail,` he said.
