Henin was awarded the 2007 WTA Tour Championship trophy in Madrid on Monday
Defending champion Justine Henin will open against Russian newcomer Anna Chakvetadze at the Sony Ericsson Championships in Madrid on Tuesday.
The WTA Tour's season-ending event features the world's top eight players and begins with a round-robin format.
Henin is in the yellow group along with Chakvetadze, Australian Open winner Serena Williams and Jelena Jankovic.
The red group includes 2004 champion Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Ana Ivanovic and Daniela Hantuchova.
The top two players from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
Wimbledon champion Venus Williams withdrew last week because of illness.
