Princess Diana would have been given discreet French protection
French diplomatic protection officers might have prevented the death of Princess Diana had they known she was in Paris, an inquest has been told.
An officer from the French police unit made the comment to the British Consul General on the night she died.
The man, who was not named, said his officers could have carried out informal covert surveillance during her visit that might have kept her safe.
The revelation came at the hospital just after she died in August 1997.
