TFF confirms Machupa for Simba

MAINLAND champions Simba SC have all the rights to use their lethal striker Athumani Machupa in both international and domestic competitions, the TFF has declared. The federation made the clarification today after Fanja FC of Oman, who are in possession of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) they got from the Rwanda FA, claimed the player is theirs.

But TFF said that Rwanda FA had wrongly released the player’s ITC amid confusion that he was contracted by the Oman club. “They issued his ITC to Oman FA thinking that he’s in Oman with Fanja FC,” said the TFF General Secretary Fredrick Mwakalebela.

Hence Mwakalebela confirmed that TFF contacted Oman FA to send Machupa’s ITC back home where the player has already agreed a deal to play for his former club Simba. He was playing for the Rwandan club Atraco FC.

“We’re going to issue a temporary ITC for him whilst waiting for Oman FA to send it (formal ITC), but if they will not respond in thirty days' time we’d release another ITC,” said Mwakalebela. Fanja has reportedly vowed to take the matter to the world’s football governing body - Fifa - as they insist the player is theirs.

However, Machupa has already denied to have agreed a move to the Oman club and if any deal was reached between Machupa and Fanja, the latter should present documents to prove their claims, he insisted. Machupa is one of the players recently spotted for trials in Norway and is set to leave for the Scandinavian country in the near future.
