Prohaska, symbol of a nation
Herbert Prohaska and deputy mayor Grete Laska fly the EURO flag in Vienna
To help mark UEFA's Jubilee, each national association was asked to nominate its most outstanding player of the past 50 years. In the first of a series of articles looking at the Golden Player selected by the nations who have qualified for UEFA EURO 2008™, uefa.com remembers the career of Austria's Herbert Prohaska.
"Herbert Prohaska has become the wise old man of Austrian football. He not only achieved great things as a player in Austria and Italy, he was also a well-respected coach before beginning his career as a television commentator. That's why Austrian sports journalists voted for him."
