Leodegar Chilla Tenga won a landslide victory
The President of Tanzania Football Federation, Leodegar Chilla Tenga, won a landslide victory to grab the Council of East and Central Africa Footbal Associations (CECAFA) chairmanship in the Council's congress and general elections held at the Peacock Millennium Hotek In Dar es salaam. The former Taifa Stars and Pan African defender got eight out of 11 votes vast by representatives of member countries to edge his rival from Ethiopia. Sudan's aspirant to the post pulled off in the eleventh hour. Djibouti's Fadoor Hussein was voted in as Vice Chariman while Habdijan Saeed of Somalia, Justus Mugisha of Uganda and Lydia Nsekera of Burundi, who is the only female in the CECAFA leadership, were elected new Executive Commitee members.
