Kamal Shadad of Sudan and Ashebir Giorgis of Ethiopia have turned up to oppose the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president, Leodegar Tenga, in the Confederation of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) chairmanship bid.
Cecafa will go to the polls on December 7 during the Council?s General Assembly in Dar es Salaam.
The body`s secretary-general Nicholas Musonye said yesterday that seven candidates had applied for four executive committee member places.
They are Madam Lydia Nsekera from Burundi, Justus Mugisha (Uganda), Abdigani Saeed (Somalia), Fadoul Huseein (Djibouti), Ali Ferej (Zanzibar), Mohamed Hatimy (Kenya) and Tesfaye Gebreyesus (Eritrea).
The council`s out-going executive was elected in 2003 in Zanzibar and their mandate expires this month.
The out-going chairman Denis Obua of Uganda will not seek a second term.
He declared during the last polls fours years ago that he would serve for only one term and make an exit.
Obua, who served as Fufa chairman for six years, will be handing over Cecafa after four years of lively competitions, stability and progression.
During his era, the body secured sponsorship for all its competitions and spearheaded an all inclusive-participation from all the member countries.
The Cecafa statutes have been amended and the next executive committee will be composed of chairman, one vice chairman, three executive committee members and the General Secretary.
