Nje Cup: Good test for Tanzania Mainland

Recently, the Tanzania Mainland national netball team went on a tour of Malawi, who are a recognized formidable force in African netball.

While on their tour, the team played two friendly matches against Malawi, which sadly they both lost.

On the upside though, top officials of the Tanzania amateur netball association (Chaneta) described the visit as a huge success.

Indeed, according to the Chaneta chairperson, Anna Bayi, the body learnt a lot of things from the team's tour of Malawi, which will help in the collective effort to build a fearsome national netball team.

Something else that should assist in the endeavour will be the Nje Cup netball tournament, which commenced in Dar es Salaam last Saturday.

The week-long netball championship will feature prominent teams from the East African region, such as Kampala City Council (KCC), Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and our very own Jeshi Stars, to name just a few.

Indeed, the championship ought to serve as a barometer of the quality of netball in Tanzania, helping us to rectify areas of our game that call for improvement.

In addition, it will also serve as an opportune moment for Chaneta officials to unearth new exciting talents in Tanzanian netball, who can then be welcomed into the fold of the national team.

Therefore, all in all, the Nje Cup ought to help in the betterment of Tanzanian netball.
