Sampras managed to keep Federer on court for over an hour
World number one Roger Federer beat seven-time Wimbledon champion Pete Sampras in straight sets in an exhibition match in Seoul on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old Swiss star won 6-4 6-3 in 61 minutes in the first of three matches between the pair this week.
Sampras, 36, broke serve first and led 4-2 before Federer found his rhythm to win 10 of the last 13 games.
"I feel pretty good, I made it competitive, which was my goal," said Sampras afterwards.
"Obviously Roger is the best player in the world and I retired five years ago. I am grateful that he invited me."
