Bank boosts youth soccer

The National Microfinance Bank (NMB) yesterday presented sports gear to the Dar es Salaam Regional Football Association (DRFA) for supporting youth soccer known as Ball Project in its three districts.

NMB Zonal Manager Gabriel ole Loibanguti said the project would help develop youth soccer in the country.

``NMB believes that these sports gear will ease coaches` training and help them identify as many talented players as possible,`` Loibanguti said.

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Secretary General, Fredrick Mwakalebela, who attended the presentation ceremony, thanked the bank for the support and appealed for other firms to follow their footsteps.

``Our goal is to have 600 youth coaches who will train youths at the grassroots level across the country,`` Mwakalebela said.

DRFA official David Kanuti also thanked the bank and promised that the gear would be used wisely.

The kits were given to the coaches of the three districts - Ilala, Temeke and Kinondoni.

Coaches who will use the gear in Ilala are Syllersaid Mziray and Abdul Mingange while Suleiman Gwaje and Mohamed Bakari `Tall` are trainers in Kinondoni.

Charles Masanja and Kennedy Mwaisabula will train the youth in Temeke.
