Baha`i prophet`s birthday to be marked tomorrow

About 35,000 Tanzania Baha`i community will on Monday join other millions of fellow believers the world over to mark the birth anniversary of their founding Prophet, Baha`u`llah.

In total there are more than six million people of Baha�i faith -Baha`is - coreligionists worldwide.

A statement issued in Dar es Salaam yesterday said the Baha`i religious community will gather and commemorate this joyful occasion in their respective localities comprising approximately 3,000 centres all across the country.`

In Dar es Salaam, the Baha`is will mark the event at the Baha`is Centre, along Maumee Road, near SIDO headquarters tomorrow.

`On November 12, 1817 a child named Mira Husayn -Ali was born in Tehran, the capital of Persia (Iran) to a nobleman Mirza Bourg. Mirza Buzurg was a minister in the court of the Shah,` the statement said.

The statement said, though Mirza Husayn-Ali received little formal education, he showed great signs of innate knowledge and unusual wisdom. He later assumed the title of Baha`u`llah, the Glory of God.

Abandoning his comfortable life, he chose the path of imprisonment, sacrifice and great suffering to proclaim God�s message, and to free mankind from this material bondage and attain the light of unity.

It`s said while in captivity, Baha`u`llah, wrote numerous letters and tablets to all the prominent rulers, kings and ecclesiastical leaders of his time, inviting them to examine this new religion and help humanity understand the nature of man and the deeper purpose of existence.

The central theme of Baha`u`llah`s message is that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for humanity`s unification into one global civilisation.

Baha`is all over the world try to emulate the teachings of Baha�u�llah, thereby striving towards building the most Great Peace.
