Application fees for visas to the United Kingdom slashed

VISA application fees to United Kingdom have been reduced after the Tanzanian shillings gained over other major international currencies.

British High Commission Press Officer John Bradshaw told reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday that visa application fees were reduced with effect from November 5, 2007.

`The reduction of visa application fees is a result of a review of our exchange rates. visa fees have been reduced as of November 5, this year,` he said

Bradshaw said visa application fees have been static for quite some time because the shilling was very weak over other major currencies.

The visa fees have been reduced on the basis of the type of visa.

A six months multiple entry visit visa is now 157,000/- instead of 176,000/-, while a long term validity visit visa is 500,000/- instead of 560,000/-, and Medical visa 157,000/- instead of 176,000/-.
