Yanga post first win as Prisons remain top
Two goals scored in the first and last minutes awarded Yanga a 2-0 win over Police Dodoma in the Vodacom Premier League match played at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro yesterday. It took Gaudance Mwaikimba only five minutes to score the first goal before defender Shadrack Nsajigwa connected home an Abuu Mtiro cross in the last minute of the game to register the second goal for Yanga. Yanga, who lost their two first matches (against Ashanti United and Coastal Union) dominated the game throughout. Police Dodoma, who were reduced to 10 men in the 38th minute, made a number of trials but failed to break the hosts defence. Referee Rashid Luena from Songea sent off Eliasa Mashaka of Police Dodoma when he fouled Athumani Idd. Yanga now have three points out of three games while Police Dodoma have one. In Mbeya, hosts Prisons hit Manyema 3-1 at the Sokoine Stadium to remain top of the 14-team league table with nine points in another match played yesterday, reports Tobia Mwanakatwe. The first two goals were scored by Oswarld Morris in the 15th and 35th minutes respectively. Manyema equalised in the 77th minute through Shila Mjema before the hosts registered the third goal in the 86th minute through Yona Ndabila. Prisons have so far won all three matches while the newly-promoted Manyema have a point.
