American, Ugandan in court over conspiracy to steal USD30,000

Two foreigners, Peter Knihira Davidson, an American, and a Ugandan Shaban Mbayazaid Baraka, appeared before Resident Magistrate Euphemia Mingi at the Kisutu Resident Magistrate`s on Friday; to answer charges of conspiring to steal US31700.50.

It was alleged that, the accused, with intent to defraud conspired to cheat Samwel Mollel a total amount of US dollars 31700.50.

The prosecutor, Charles Kenyella, alleged that the accused obtained 48.77 tonnes of copper ore valued at USD31700.50 from Mollel on understanding they would pay the money within a period of month.

The accused pleaded not guilty, and were committed to remand prison after failing to meet bail conditions, including producing three sureties and signing a bond of 10m/-.

The case comes up for mention on October 10, this year.
