37 students benefit from Algerian scholarships

The Embassy of Algeria has offered scholarships to 37 Tanzanias to study science and technology degree courses in Algeria.

Speaking during a farewell dinner in Dar es Salaam, the Algerian envoy to Tanzania Abdelmoun`aam Ahiri said his government has offered scholarships to Tanzanians to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

He called upon students to cooperate as they will be far away from home.

The Principal Information Officer in the Ministry of Higher Education, Grace Kabaye, said during the event that science and technology was a problem in our country which the selected students would help to reduce.

She said the scholarships would be extended to students who are in rural areas.

Ibrahim Nyirenda who spoke on behalf of the students promised to bring the knowledge acquired in Algeria adding that they would make the best use of the opportunity.

`We are going to study in order to build our country in future,` said Nyirenda.

The number of Tanzanians studying in Algerian universities will now be 200 students.
